Store bought skin care products love to claim they are made from natural products. And they charge accordingly. However, even “natural” products may contain ingredients that aren’t good for you. As a matter of fact, many of them can harm your skin.
With these ingredients you can make your own cleansers, toners, and moisturizers. We also have recipes for body scrubs, hair conditioning, and massage oils. You’re using all natural products on your skin, and your skin will love it.
These products make lovely gifts, and the recipients will enjoy them. Whether for yourself or for others, you will need jars and bottles. These containers can always be reused.
The natural oils you will be using come in two categories, carrier oils and essential oils. They serve separate functions.
Carrier oils are usually extracted from nuts. Examples are jojoba oil, olive oil, coconut oil, castor oil, avocado oil, and almond oil.
Essential oils are plant-based and very aromatic. Examples are chamomile, peppermint, rosemary, tea tree, geranium, rose essence, and lavender. The essentials oils are very potent and should not be used on their own. A few drops should be added to one of the carrier oils. While essential oils can serve different functions – lavender relaxes while peppermint stimulates– you can experiment with the various fragrances to find one that is pleasing to you.
