Kaizen Philosophy Component: A Little Bit Every Day

The philosophy of Kaizen can best be summed up as 1% change every day. The idea is that by making a small series of changes over time, you will eventually grow better and better with each passing day. So suppose that you had to pay off a major debt. The principle of Kaizen would say that it would be better to pay 1% off of that debt every single day, or at least pay whatever can be paid each day until eventually over time the entire debt is paid off.

Small improvements eventually end up leading to significant changes over time. When you adopt the mindset of looking for how you can improve your predicament or solve your problem each day by just a little, you will eventually find that the problem has been reduced to a very manageable size.

Instead of allowing your workload or the size of the problem to overwhelm you, Kaizen allows for you to turn your workload into manageable bite sized pieces.
