Solve your problem : Get the Facts

Its now time to look at a step-by-step process in which the discovery process is utilized. We will be showing you a series of actions that you can take when you begin to look at how to solve your problem. You must go slowly here, if you’re looking for a quick fix to solve your problem, you are still focusing on just learning how to fix a specific problem instead of learning to adapt to a problem solver mindset.

Get the Facts

Assuming that you’ve broken down your problem into as many pieces as it can go, it’s time for you to work on gathering all of the facts that you have available at your disposal. Write down everything that you know about the situation, don’t leave anything out. For example, if one of your major problems is that your dryer isn’t working properly and you aren’t sure what to do, you would write a list out somewhat like this:

Fact: The Dryer isn’t working
Fact: It was just fixed last week
Fact: When I try to run the dryer, it begins making a strange wheezing noise
Fact: The dryer is A Whirlpool Duet

Regardless of what the problem is, if you’re looking to overcome it, you must be able to write out all of the facts that are in play.
