Just the way people employ the services of expert business proposals/plan writers, that’s the same way they require good resume writers. Presentation is key, and some people are trained to do this excellently. This is a good side business.
ZipRecruiter.com put the average salary for freelance resume writers at around $49,694/yr. I don’t know about you but thats a huge chunk of change for helping people draft cv’s. The picture below shows they could earn almost $100k in certain cases.
This business requires no formal education whatsoever. However, potential clients might prefer working with you on referral basis, or probably after seeing your past work. I know it still seems surprising that resume writers are paid that much, but the truth is, professionally written resume’s increase your chances of securing a job, hence the demand. A resume speaks for you in your absence and so a poorly written one gives you very wrong representation.
To become an authority in this field, it’s neccessary you practise dilligently. As like any other worthwhile venture, the more you practise, the better you become.
The better you become, the greater the potential to earn more. As always, learning is only a part of this business, getting word out is where the work lies. Look for places where your potential customers or fellow resume writers are. Connect, share ideas, learn more from experienced professionals in this field, and watch revenue start to come in.
Conclusion
So, here we are at the end of this short article. I’d leave you with these business ideas and assume i’ve managed to be of some kind of help.
Unfortunately that might not be enough. Here’s a little extra…
The manner in which i have presented these ventures, might in some way have omitted or made likely, one key factor. That very component that can take ideas from just a thought or plan, to an actual successful business – Effort.
You’ve gotta put in WORK!
After all the desire and plans to start any of these businesses, nothing happens unless we take action, and keep at it. For businesses with little or no capital requirements, bear in mind that “sweat equity”(alot of it)is a major requirement. I find that its always easy for people to decide on starting new ventures(especially those that require zero capital), but even easier to drop it when the return’s dont come pouring in quickly. Why? They underestimate the amount of work required to build a successful business from scratch.
Don’t let the admittance fee fool you. You’re going to have to apply yourself to the process, thoroughly. Seeking an early payday sometimes means setting yourself up for failure. I read a story about a blogger called Geraldine. She’s the founder of a blog called “everywhereist”. The story talked about how, for two years, she never broke the 100 visits/day mark.
I find it very inspiring that someone could persist for so long, with such little results. Fastforward five years down the line and she was doing 100,000+ visits each month. That level of blog traffic would be netting her huge sums in revenue. How many people could stick it out for so long? Not many, thats why these stories aren’t regular. I put it to you to challenge yourself, commit to continuous action and improvements, and you too can create a healthy business alongside your day job.
Not enough time?
Do you still complain about not having enough time? For me, the inadequacy of time isn’t always the problem, but rather its allocation and use. 24 hours is a long time, and if you dedicated as little as an hour daily to building an online business, you could become an authority within a year or two. Effort compounds, and i believe anything would work if you kept at it long enough.
