What Causes The Brain To Be Depressed?

The brain has over 40 million cells and uses neurotransmitters to communicate with other parts of the brain.

However, it just doesn’t “talk” to other parts of the brain, it uses different “chemicals components” to make you feel emotions such as  moods, sexual desire, appetite, sleep, memory and learning, stress response, temperature regulation, and some social behavior, just to name a few functions.

One of the main chemical, which isn’t really a chemical, but a hormone or rather a neurotransmitter, called serotonin.

The medical explanation for serotonin is a protein block tryptophan uses tryptophan hydroxylase, a chemical reactor, which, when combined with tryptophan, forms 5-hydroxytryptamine, also known as serotonin.

It’s a biochemical conversion process the body uses to relay information in the brain.

Low levels of serotonin can affect various parts of the body from the function of your cardiovascular system, muscles, to various elements in the endocrine system. 

It is instrumental in regulating mood, growth and development, metabolism and all other functions.

The stress response lowers the level of serotonin in your body, which leads to depression.

The reason you need to know this explanation is because if you do suffer from depression, you can use various ways to up the level of serotonin and therefore, “get over your depression”.

You can easily do many things to overcome depression, if it’s just a matter of a lack of serotonin.
