The release of adrenaline gives your body the instant energy it needs to “flight or fight”.
Adrenaline is a chemical (actually it’s a hormone and a neurotransmitter) released through the adrenal glands to give you a metabolic boost in energy and excitement.
This would allow you to run away from danger or stay and fight the danger.
Here it is – the reason you suffer from anxiety.
When the body stops the flow of adrenaline, it’s still in your body.
If you fight, the adrenaline is used for a boost in energy, so it gets used up. If you run from the danger, the adrenaline is still used for energy as you run away.
But what happens if you don’t do either?
Nothing, the adrenaline sits in your body wondering how it can be used.
Now, adrenaline is a powerful chemical or hormone your body has to use.
When it stays in your body for an extended length of time it causes anxiety.
The more stress you are under, or rather the longer you are under stressful conditions, the more adrenaline is pumped into your body.
Since it has to be used up, if you have a lot of adrenaline in your body, it can result in panic attacks.
